A Dual Approach For Comprehensive Dry Eye Relief
The goal for treating dry eye syndrome is to restore a healthy tear film to your eyes, which for many patients means unblocking the meibomian glands. Tempsure Envy RF and ICON IPL take different approaches to massage and release blockages around the meibomian glands, and when used together, they create a comprehensive treatment plan.
Tempsure Envy RF gently heats the eyelids, encouraging the flow of oils, while ICON IPL uses light therapy to reduce inflammation and promote healing. This dual approach not only alleviates symptoms but also targets the underlying causes of dry eye syndrome, offering long-term relief.
What is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction?
Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) is the most common cause of dry eye. It occurs when the glands that produce the oily layer of tears become clogged, leading to inflammation, discomfort, poor tear quality, and blurry vision.
Radio Frequency (RF) Treatment
RF is a non-invasive treatment to address dry eye symptoms caused by Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). A small and precise applicator delivers gentle heat to the delicate eye area, thereby targeting the underlying causes of meibomian gland dysfunction, such as gland blockages, and promoting improved blood circulation and gland function. Radiofrequency thermal energy also promotes a process called neocollagenesis, or the growth and repair of collagen. This helps rebuild and repair the meibomian glands, and results in smoother, tighter, and more youthful-looking skin.
By stimulating gland activity and secretion, radiofrequency treatment can help alleviate dry eye symptoms including; discomfort, blurred vision, irritation, and improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and under eye bags.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatment
IPL treatment delivers targeted light energy to areas of the face, body, and delicate eye area, offering benefits for dry eye, inflammation, and pigmentation concerns. Light energy targets tiny inflammatory blood vessels just below the skin, reducing eyelid inflammation, rosacea and improving collagen synthesis.
In addition, IPL also destroys harmful skin bacteria and eyelash mites (demodex), relieving dry eye symptoms and associated discomfort. Additionally, IPL’s ability to target pigmented areas can be utilized to address issues like hyperpigmentation, age spots, liver spots, or sun damage improving the aesthetic appearance around the eyes, areas of the face, and body.
